The
CANADIAN TRANSPORTATION RESEARCH FORUM (CTRF) encourages graduate
students to specialize in the transportation field through its scholarship
program. The mission is to develop highly qualified personnel who will
eventually join and contribute to the transportation profession. Therefore,
CTRF, in cooperation with several other organizations, is offering
scholarships worth between $4,000 and $6,000 each for the academic year
2012-2013. Preference is given to (but not limited to) graduate students
applying for and entering Masters or PhD programs and current graduate
students in the process of choosing research topics for thesis or graduating
essays.
Graduate
students holding major awards (e.g. SSHRC, NSERC or University PhD awards)
and research grants during the period that the scholarship is applicable,
are not eligible. A candidate can only receive one CTRF scholarship but may
apply more than once. The educational institution that the student seeks to
attend or is attending, need not have a specialized transportation program
for the student to quality. The Scholarship committee determines whether the
student’s proposed program of study qualifies for the scholarship. Awards
are tenable at any university, with preference given to Canadian
institutions. Field of study may be in business administration, engineering,
economics, geography, law, planning or related fields.
Scholarships
are sponsored by organizations including Transport Canada, Canadian Pacific
Railway, CN, Ministère des Transports du Québec, as well as other companies
and individuals. To be considered for a CTRF Scholarship sponsored by
Transport Canada, the applicant's research or study must be focused on one
of the following three areas: Economics, Efficiency and Competitiveness in
Transportation; Transportation Safety and Security; and Sustainable
Transportation.
Donations to the CTRF Scholarship Fund are eligible for official receipts for income tax purposes. Please forward your donation to: CTRF Scholarship Fund For further information contact Carole Ann Woudsma at cawoudsma@ctrf.ca |
